May 2011 - School Transport Project
Part of the Padua Charitable Fund educational programme is the
School Transport Project, launched this July for the school year
2011-2012. PCF is sponsoring the cost of daily travel to and from
school for 29 high school and college students who have real difficulty
funding their schooling. The students were selected on the basis
of financial means, diligence and willingness to help out in the
community.

The programme has been happily and gratefully welcomed by all,
especially the families of the pupils. It is very successfully
managed and painstakingly monitored by Nelson Balmores, our PCF
coordinator in the Philippines. Nelson distributes every pupil's
daily travel allowance, to make sure every pupil goes to school.
A little money has also been set aside for each pupil's school
project materials: Nelson has devised a scheme whereby each pupil
owns a jar containing his/her project money. Pupils are also trained
to help clean their community, observe rules and regulations,
demonstrate good behavior, moral values and decorum, and to have
a strong sense of sharing.
We are still in dire need of sponsors for this marvelous project.
It costs very little to send a pupil to school but the benefits
are bountiful. This project means their future.
