Padua Charitable Fund’s “Fountain of Love” School
Project in Bani, Pangasinan, Philippines is now completed and
ready to be utilised this year! This daycare centre was started
in 2013 through the fundraising activites of the Padua Charitable
Fund (UK registered 1123426) with the devoted supervision of British
Filipina actress Rachel Grant and her mother Isabel Padua Grant
in liaison with the municipality of Bani.

Who
could ever forget Typhoon “Yolanda” (internationally
Typhoon Haiyan) that horribly struck the Visayan Provinces of
the Philippines in November 8, 2013 - the most devastating typhoon

PCF Scholars Earn

and molded the first two college graduates of the Padua Charitable
Fund (PCF). In 2012, Rizza Bang-ay and April Fajardo, residents
of Airlift Asia Inc/Gawad-Kalinga housing, El Dorado, Parañaque
were granted full scholarships by PCF.

building and typhoon shelter project has been selected by Connia
Interiors of Nottingham UK as their dragon boat team’s fund
raising recipient for the annual Nottingham Dragon Boat Challenge
event.

of Love School project
Padua
Charitable Fund volunteer Rachel Grant, has pledged to raise funds
to build a much-needed school for 150 children - typhoon survivors
in Bani, Pangasinan in the Philippines. 100% of all profit from
her first book collaboration "Making a Difference" is
being donated to this school building project, also doubling up
as a typhoon-proof shelter for some 600 villagers. Around 1 million
pesos ($24,000 USD/£15,500) is needed for the construction
and any more will go towards school supplies. The land for the
school has been generously given for free!

Guest Teacher Workshop
The
first PCF Celebrity Guest Teacher Workshop was held on Sunday
21st August at GK's AAI Eldorado village, Paranaque, Manila. All
were thrilled to welcome Guro Victor Gendrano Jr, an American-Filipino
instructor from the world renowned Inosanto Academy in Los Angeles.
Guro Victor, who has worked on several Hollywood films, was kindly
offering a complimentary Filipino Martial Heritage seminar during
his visit to the Philippines.

New Zealand Writer
By
PCF Co-founder Isabel Padua Grant. In October of last year, I
(via this website) received an email from a New Zealand writer,
Wheldon Curzon-Hobson, who was planning a trip to the Philippines,
the country he chose to be the basis of his e-book about the good
that people do in the world, his argument being that enough is
written about the bad that folks do.

Construction
The
Padua Charitable Fund has recently funded the proposed construction
of a watertank stand to support 3 watertanks (donated by the Rotary
Club Paranaque) to supply water for the Eldorado Airlift Asia
multipurpose centre which also houses the school of the community.

August 2011 - PCF
BOAT
The
Padua Charitable Fund has recently purchased a boat ("bangka")
for a small fishing village in Ternate, Cavite. This help is needed
by the local community since many of their boats were lost during
a heavy typhoon in 2009, robbing the families of their livelihood
and ease of travel. Without a boat the children of the community
have to walk an hour to school!

July 2011 - Art Exhibition
Fundraiser
On
July 11, a glamorous night of fundraising for the Padua Charitable
Fund took place at the Philippine Embassy in London. British-Filipino
actress and performing artist Rebecca Grant held an art exhibition,
depicting West End and theatrical scenes from shows she has performed
in. "An Actor's Art" exhibition successfully ran for
two weeks at the Philippine Embassy, marking the 65th anniversary
of Philippines-United Kingdom bilateral relations.

Fundraiser
On
10th July THE PADUA CHARITABLE FUND along with the Nottingham
Philippine Youth Association held their first annual Summer Fair
at St Theresa Church Hall in the legendary Robin Hood city of
Nottingham, UK. The well-attended weather-blessed event included
a variety of fun-filled fabulous stalls and activities.

Breaking
The
Padua Charitable Fund is providing 35 families living in slums
in Paranaque Philippines with new decent homes. This current housing
project and monitoring is at the Sapang Maligaya village (Baranggay
Sun Valley, Paranaque). Construction of the first 12 houses commenced
this July.

McCarthy Scholarship
The
Padua Charity Fund has started a special scholarship program for
bright talented individuals with good high school grades who can
not afford to attend college. These young students are chosen
from underprivileged areas in Manila. This year PCF donors have
selected two new students who will benefit from the PCF programme
in honour of Eleanor McCarthy.

Transport Project
Part
of the Padua Charitable Fund educational programme is the School
Transport Project, launched this July for the school year 2011-2012.
PCF is sponsoring the cost of daily travel to and from school
for 29 high school and college students who have real difficulty
funding their schooling. The students were selected on the basis
of financial means, diligence and willingness to help out in the
community.

School Project
The
Padua Charitable Fund has provided a year's supply of note books
and schooling utensils to a mountain community known as Mangyans
in Mondoro, Philippines. PCF staff were shocked to learn of the
limited school system in one particular community. One notebook
was being used for an entire school year of teaching children
and a few pencils were for all to share.

The
Padua Charitable Fund has helped a new Sibol (under 6 yrs) school
by donating hundreds of good books for a new community library
at the newly-constructed Airlift Asia multipurpose centre in AAI/GK
Eldorado Village.

October 2010 - Feeding
programme
The
Padua Charitable Fund organised and funded a successful feeding
progamme for over 100 children at El Dorado GK village in Manila,
Philippines. The feeding programme included numerous games with
prizes along with entertainment of singing and dancing provided
by the village children. Later, there was a fun play session with
"Intsa-Snow" - snow being something which most had never
experienced.

School Trip
On
February 22 2010, 31 children along with 15 adults from Gawad
Kalinga's Ancop Sibol School enjoyed their first day trip to the
Bio Research learning center and aquarium in Metro Manila. The
entire trip was kindly donated by Padua Charitable Fund members
who visited the school and met with the children earlier this
year.

Christmas 2009 -
Volunteers visit the Philippines
Over
the festive season, British and American PCF volunteers travelled
to the Philippines visiting several Gawad Kalinga sites and schools
donating writing materials as well as distributing Christmas gifts
to over 300 children which included shoes, books, chocolates and
even snow (Insta-Snow) which proved a big hit!

December 2009 - Dance
Show/Fundraiser
On
December 6th The Angela Grant School of dance held its first annual
ballet and awards show in aid of The Padua Charitable Fund. The
sell-out show "The Gallery", held at St Dunstan's church
in Acton in East London featured over 100 costumed children in
15 stunning dance numbers. Each dance saw famous paintings of
artists "come to life" from Van Gogh's Sunflowers to
Matisse's Cat.

October 2009 - Hurricane
Ketsana relief effort
The
Padua Charitable Fund organized a successful relief effort for
130 families who were victims of Hurricane Ketsana. Millions of
people were affected by the devastating floods which swept through
the streets of Manila in September 2009.
